SAAM is located at 66 Lipson Street, Port Adelaide.

Our entrance gates are just south of the Railway Museum and Centrelink building.
While the access road to our hangars is one lane, it is accessible to cars, cars & caravans, large RVs and buses. We have ample parking and turn-around space for vehicles of all sizes (except perhaps b-doubles or road trains).

Please Note:
The South Australian Government has made a committment to the Port Dock Railway Line Project. This project is going to have an impact on our Lipson Street entrance in the near future as the railway line runs between Lipson Street and the SAAM hangars. Negotiations are currently in progress with the Rail Project team, and while we do not have a definite plan in place yet, if (when) our Lipson Street entrance is closed off for site works, it is looking likely that we will have a temporary access from the east, near the corner of Perkins Drive and Bedford Street. If you are planning a visit, keep an eye on this website or our facebook page for updates.

Public Transport
SAAM is a short walk (500m) from Commercial Road, Port Adelaide, where you can access the Port Adelaide Railway Station and bus routes from Stop 38 Commercial Road. Adelaide Metro has a website for route information at

Please Note: Access to SAAM using Public Transport is likely to change when the Port Dock Rail Project works start up.
