Support the South Australian Aviation Museum

The South Australian Aviation Museum is a non-profit incorporated organisation operated entirely by volunteers.

Membership is a practical way to support the museum, meet others with an interest in aviation, and help preserve South Australian aviation history for future generations. Members may contribute in areas such as restoration, displays, administration, research, visitor support and general museum activities.

Membership is open to interested people, subject to approval by SAAM Committee.

Membership options

SAAM offers two membership categories: Full Member and Friend of the Museum.

Full Member

Full Membership is suited to people who would like to be more actively involved in the museum.

Full Members may have voting rights, receive the monthly newsletter, access library borrowing rights, enjoy free entry for themselves and immediate family, and may become eligible to serve on the Executive Committee after twelve months of membership.

Full Members are required to complete a satisfactory National Police Check, arranged by SAAM, and take part in rostered desk duty.

Friend of the Museum

Friend of the Museum membership is suited to people who would like to support SAAM but may not want to take on regular museum duties.

Friends of the Museum receive benefits such as free entry for themselves and immediate family, the monthly newsletter and library borrowing rights. This membership does not include voting rights, Executive Committee participation or restoration work unless authorised by the Executive Committee.

Junior Supporters

The Junior Supporters program is a great option for young aviation fans aged 5 to 15.

Junior Supporters, for an initial fee, receive free entry for 12 months when accompanied by a paying adult. A free cap is supplied with the first year purchase, and yearly renewals are half price.

SAAM is a volunteer organisation with no paid staff

Volunteers are the heart of the South Australian Aviation Museum. With more than 180 dedicated volunteers, their passion and commitment help preserve South Australia's aviation heritage and keep the Museum thriving.
Whether you enjoy meeting people, researching history or working with your hands, there are many ways to get involved. Volunteers assist with welcoming visitors, conducting guided tours, cataloguing books and archives, digitising photographs, creating displays, maintaining the Museum, restoring aircraft and aviation equipment, and supporting administration, marketing and public relations.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in aviation and the Museum's activities. New members complete a six (6) month probationary period and are accepted subject to Committee approval. Full members are required to provide a current National Police Check, and volunteers working with the public must also hold a current Working with Children Check.
