Events and functions at SAAM
The South Australian Aviation Museum offers a unique setting for events and functions in Port Adelaide, surrounded by historic aircraft, engines, rockets, memorabilia and aviation stories.
There are two types of bookings available.

Smaller events at SAAM and larger catered functions through AHG
Smaller events booked directly with SAAM
These may include meetings, presentations, book launches, professional development sessions, club gatherings, aircraft modelling events, community groups and self-catered gatherings.
Larger catered functions managed by AHG
For larger functions requiring catering, furniture, lighting and full event setup, SAAM works with catering company Australian Hiring Company (AHG).
This page explains smaller events booked directly with SAAM. For larger catered functions, please visit the AHG function booking page.
Museum access and guided experiences
Museum access or guided experiences may be arranged as part of an event, depending on the type of booking, timing and volunteer availability.
Please discuss this with SAAM when making your enquiry.
Enquire about a smaller event at SAAM
When enquiring, please include your event type, preferred date, approximate guest numbers, space requirements, and whether you would like museum access or a guided experience.

Smaller events booked directly with SAAM
Smaller events may be booked directly with SAAM, subject to approval.
These may suit:

- aircraft modelling club events
- community group gatherings
- smaller adult birthday gatherings

Events booked directly with SAAM are generally self-catered. Groups may be able to use barbecue facilities, and tea or coffee may be available by arrangement. Full catering, furniture, lighting and event setup are handled through AHG for larger functions.
What makes SAAM a unique event setting
SAAM offers something different from a standard meeting room or function space. Your guests meet completely under cover, surrounded by aircraft, aviation displays and South Australian aviation history.
Events connected to aviation, history, education, engineering, transport, clubs, modelling groups and special interests often work especially well in the museum environment.
Meeting room and hangar event spaces
SAAM has a meeting room suitable for smaller groups, presentations and professional development sessions.
The meeting room can comfortably hold up to 30 participants, and AV facilities are available.
Some events may also be held within the museum hangars, surrounded by aircraft and aviation displays. SAAM can generally accommodate events of up to around 100 people across the two hangars, depending on the event type and approval.
Because SAAM is a museum, aircraft, displays and historical items must be protected at all times. All bookings are subject to approval by the SAAM Committee.
