Member's Christmas Dinner


SAAM is a non-profit incorporated organisation operated entirely by volunteers. We offer a friendly atmosphere where those interested in aviation can offer their services in areas such as restoration, display, administration & research. Membership is open to any interested person subject to the approval of SAAM members. There are two categories of membership, 'Full Member' and 'Friend of the Museum'. Full members are required to have a satisfactory National Police Check (which SAAM arranges).



Full Membership
A Full Member is entitled to the following:
  • Full voting rights.
  • Eligibility to serve on the Executive Committee after twelve months of membership.
  • Free entry for yourself and immediate family to the Museum and organised functions.
  • Receipt of the monthly newsletter (Props and Mags).
  • Library borrowing rights.
A Full Member must:
  • Agree to a probationary period of 6 months.
  • Meet the criteria for membership at the completion of the probationary period.
  • Agree to abide by the rules as laid down by the Constitution of the Museum .
  • Agree to abide by and understand the Work, Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Have read and understood the provisions as outlined in the Museum's Volunteer Insurance Policy.
  • Undertake rostered desk duty (usually once every 3 months) with other members on desk duty.
  • Agree to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check.
  • Pay an annual membership fee of $50.00 (or pro-rata as advised if joining mid-year).
  • Purchase a shirt with the Museum logo attached to wear when performing desk duty. (This clearly identifies members to the general public and enhances the Museum's professionalism).



Friend of the Museum (FOM) Membership
A Friend of the Museum is entitled to the following:
  • Free entry for yourself and immediate family to the Museum and organised functions.
  • Receipt of the monthly newsletter (Props and Mags).
  • Library borrowing rights.
A Friend of the Museum must:
  • Agree to abide by the rules as laid down by the Constitution of the Museum.
  • Agree to abide by and understand the Work, Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Have read and understood the provisions as outlined in the Museum's Volunteer Insurance Policy.
  • Pay an annual membership fee of $100.00 (or pro-rata as advised if joining mid-year).
A Friend of the Museum:
  • Has no requirement to undertake desk duty.
  • May not vote in Museum elections or participate in the Executive Committee.
  • May not take part in restoration work in either the hangar or workshop, unless given authority to do so by the Executive Committee
