DESCRIPTION: 445 H.P. 9 cylinder, single row, air cooled radial engine.

DATE: 1930 to 1960s

DEVELOPMENT: This superb radial engine came from a US Govt. Specification for a 400 H.P. radial to power its then new fighters. The result was the most successful single row radial engine ever built. It powered over 260 aircraft types, world wide.

AIRCRAFT: Stearman, CAC Winjeel, DHC 2 Beaver, Lockheed 10.

ENGINES PRODUCED: Tens of thousands.
