March 8th, 2010100th Anniversary of Powered Flight in SA
February 28th, 2010To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the first powered flight in SA the museum will be flying a large model of the Bleriot aircraft at the museum. The flight is in recognition of the Bill Wittber “hop” and the Fred Custance flight at Bolivar on 17th March 1910.
The re-enactment flight will commence at the museum at 10.00 am on 14th March 2010.

October Engine Run (2009)
October 11th, 2009Over 300 people attended the South Australian Aviation Museum’s Engine Run on October 11th 2009.
Several engines were run at 12 noon and 3pm with a Sausage Sizzle and general browsing throughout the day.
During the first run, the Rolls Royce Merlin tried to play hardball and be difficult to start. Not to be out-done the persistence of the engine crew paid off in the end with the Merlin submitting. All other engines performed magnificently.
Helicopter rides were conducted for the public out the front of the premises. The Robinson Helicopter being kept very busy all day.

Fokker Prop Installed
July 30th, 2009The Fokker Friendship has now had a propeller fitted to the starboard engine. After several weeks of carefull restoration by Jim Piscioneri.

F27 Props being restored
June 16th, 2009Propellors for our latest aquisition the Fokker F27 are being restored. One is on the way from New Zealand.
